Situated off the coast of Praslin, Cousin is a strict land and sea nature reserve of 29 hectares extending 400 mt out to sea.
The granitic Inner Island, owned by Birdlife International since 1968 and now managed by Nature Seychelles, rescued the last of the Seychelles warblers of which in 1959 there were only 26 individuals. Such was the success that many warblers have now been reintroduced to other islands.
Formerly a coconut plantation, Cousin was returned to indigenous forest by a concerted conservation effort which now supports shearwaters, magpie robins, white tailed tropicbirds and bridled terns, as well as giant tortoises and five endemic lizards, giant millipedes and seven species of seabird.
