Jetwing St Andrews

Scroll

Jetwing St Andrew’s is an authentic British colonial hotel situated within formal gardens in a slightly elevated position in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka’s highest altitude town and capital of the Hill Country. Inside there is period furniture, wood panelling and fireplaces, all adding to the colonial atmosphere. The restaurant serves high quality buffets and traditional British afternoon tea can be taken on the front lawn. The service is excellent, and even extends to hot water bottles placed in your bed on cold nights. Jetwing St Andrew’s is not the height of luxury but a great base from which to explore the town, tea estates and surrounding countryside.

Facilities

Restaurant, room service, bar/lounge, free WiFi, spa, billiards room, room and laundry service.

Local Wildlife

Horton Plains has a range of wildlife including 24 species of mammal, 87 of birds, 9 reptiles and 8 amphibians. The most easily seen are the sambar deer, but with luck you can also see toque macaque, purple faced langur and wild boar: rusty-spotted cats and leopards roam here but are very hard to see.

Optional Activities

Visit a tea estate; walk around the charming town; take an early morning excursion to Horton Plains; walk to World’s End; climb Adam’s Peak.

Lovely hotel. The buffet food was of a very good standard.
