Hotel Sundy Praia

Scroll

Designed by famous French architect, Didier Le Fort, and only opened in December 2017, Sundy Praia is undoubtedly the apex of Principe accommodation options; in fact it’s the best hotel in the whole of Sao Tome & Principe and one of the world’s loveliest beachfront establishments.

A charming, beachfront boutique resort nestled in lush tropical foliage with stream, Sundy Praia boasts a dramatically designed fine dining restaurant, infinity swimming pool, lively snack bar and opulently appointed tented villas. The service is keen (although some staff don’t speak much English) and the comfort levels stratospheric.

The sea is safe for bathing with no waves or biting creatures; very family friendly. Breakfasts are delicious buffets and dinners are all superb, often taking the form of tasting menus.

We walked with Reginnio and another delightful couple, very slowly through the forest down to a beach near the Hotel. It was a lovely walk and we had lots of fun trying to spot woodpeckers, doves parrots etc. Reginnio is a wonderful wildlife guide with eyes like an eagle. We ended at a remote beach with snacks laid out for us.
On to the hotel, which is amazing. The rooms, balconies, the bar, the pool and especially the dining room. All just totally wonderful. We were looked after quite brilliantly. The food was interesting and mostly delicious although the bar menu was limited. We spent the first afternoon going to a turtle beach for an hour or so. Such fun, watching the baby turtles hatching. Truly wonderful.
