Pousada Trijunção
Pousada Trijunção is a secluded eco-lodge set within 33,000 protected hectares of Brazil’s Cerrado, a vast and endangered savanna biome. There are just seven suites in the main house and two in Villa Jatobá.
Each room is equipped with air conditioning, minibar, safe, Trousseau cotton linens, bathrobes, and Souvie organic amenities, while categories range from the expansive Master Suite with ofuro soaking tub and balconies, to Standard Suites and the spacious Villa Jatobá with its own living and dining areas. Facilities include a small pool, hot tub, massage room, lounge with books, and a dining room serving cuisine influenced by the three states—Goiás, Bahia, and Minas Gerais—that converge at the lodge’s borders.
Guests can immerse themselves in the Cerrado through guided Jeep safaris, kayaking on the lagoon, fat‑tyre bike rides, birdwatching, stargazing, and walks in the Grande Sertão Veredas National Park. Conservation is at the heart of the experience: the lodge partners with Onçafari to track endangered maned wolves, runs a breeding centre for species such as tapirs and peccaries, and supports local communities through sustainable fruit cultivation. Solar panels, LED lighting, and reclaimed materials reflect its commitment to sustainability, while Senderos and affiliations with The Long Run and BLTA highlight its role in regenerative tourism.

Mammals: maned wolf, jaguar, puma, ocelot, six-banded armadillo, giant anteater, Brazilian tapir, grey brocket deer, red brocket deer, oncilla, pampas cat, southern tamandua, tayra, agouti, hoary fox, crab-eating fox, striped hog-nosed skunk, collared peccary, white-eared opossum, black-tufted marmoset.
Birds: American kestrel, scaled dove, white-tipped dove, blue-and-yellow macaw, red-and-green macaw, peach-fronted parakeet, yellow-faced parrot, swallow-tailed hummingbird, glittering-bellied emerald, toco toucan, campo flicker, white woodpecker, rufous hornero, chalk-browed mockingbird, masked gnatcatcher, pale-breasted thrush, hepatic tanager, rufous-collared sparrow, chopi blackbird, saffron finch.
Other: dwarf caiman.

A somewhat belated letter, but I thought I’d just send you a quick note to say thank you for all your work in putting together our honeymoon. We had a really great time, in great comfort, throughout our stay, and saw a huge range of different wildlife and landscapes over what was really quite a short space of time. By my reckoning, each day we saw at least one type of animal that we hadn’t seen before at any point on the trip – even in Rio!
Overall, a fantastic holiday – if we were to change one thing, it would have been to take another week, so we could have spent a little more time in each place… but who has a boss that understanding? In any case, now we have the perfect excuse to go back again when we’ve saved up enough money and holiday time.
