Explora Lodge Sacred Valley

Scroll

Both eloquently stylish and comfortable, this lodge oozes class. It sits on the former site of a large hacienda, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, between Cusco and Machu Picchu. The small village of Urquillos is just a short walk away, whilst an array of archaeological sites are dotted up and down the valley within easy reach.

Complete with large fireplaces, vaulted ceilings and intricately engineered walkways, the lodge is a truly impressive vision, design and build. The bedrooms have oversized windows with views of the corn plantations and mountains bordering the valley. Its wonderful staff are able to book you on various excursions and tours within the area. Cusco, with its wealth of Inca sites and architecture, as well as markets and souvenir shopping opportunities, is only an hour and a half away.

The spa, Pumacahua Bath House, is housed in a brilliantly preserved colonial building opposite the main hacienda, built on Inca-era foundations. Enjoy a yoga class or massage, and relax on a lounger on the picturesque terrace afterwards. Hot tubs and a heated outdoor pool offer further possibilities for unwinding.

Renowned Peruvian chef, Virgilio Martínez, is the visionary behind the restaurant’s dining experience, with a strong focus on Andean cuisine, local produce and sustainability. Skilled mixologists will happily create some delicious cocktails for you at the end of your day.

We would like to thank you again for organising such a magnificent holiday for us in Peru, the Andes and the Amazon basin. The arrangements worked very smoothly, and coped with the inevitable ‘glitches’ (like transport strike in Cusco) as if they were part of the program. The guides and couriers were excellent, without exception, and looked after us very well indeed, without fussing over us. It was a most colourful and exciting trip, and every day was an adventure, bringing us new experiences. Coming back to England was quite an anticlimax (which we are gradually adjusting to, by contemplating our next trip).
