I last used Reef and Rainforest 11 years ago when we went to Costa Rica. Once again we were very impressed with the level of organisation and attention to detail. Hopefully we will be using the company again.
Certainly one of the best wildlife holidays I have been on, and I have done quite a few with various organisations.
Best Holiday ever and we have travelled to many countries! Saw most of what we wanted to see: Orang utan, pygmy elephants, red leaf monkey, macaques, many birds, gibbons, hornbills etc etc. Overall it was the most fantastic holiday. Couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Everyone involved in helping plan or execute this trip did a great job. Everything went according to plan and there was no downtime or confusion the entire time. All transfers, flights, meals, lodges, guides, Reef and Rainforest staff – everyone did a fantastic job. I am so grateful to you all for bending over backwards to make sure my vacation was top notch. I am lucky and I try to be humble. It’s hard to remember how lucky you are when everything works. So, hats off to you all. I had a great crew of people working to make my trip special, and it certainly was. Thank you.
Thank you for sending us on the most magical holiday. I can hardly believe there are two islands, of such beauty, almost untouched by modern tourism and commercialisation, left on the planet. They must be similar now, to how the Seychelles were 70 years ago.
All the guides were excellent with a lot of information about the plants and wildlife big and small. They also seem to have an infectious enthusiasm for finding different creatures. Our guide at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge was exceptional going the extra mile to make sure everyone in our small group was happy.
Wildlife highlights included seeing a shoebill, we really had to search! Seeing a leopard up close on our night drive, seeing lions out on our own! The abundance and concentration of wildlife in Lake Mburu. And of course the gorillas which was so magical and the chimps.
Large variety of lemurs, indri and sifakas in different surroundings. Watching families leaping from tree to tree was enthralling. Chameleons, from a two day old hatchling to larger ones displaying their unusual movements was captivating. Beautiful and unusual birds in a variety of habitats. Watching a kingfisher wait, catch and then consume a large crab was a highlight.
Our highlights were the lemurs of course, but the sheer variety of them was amazing and we really loved how close some got. The spiny forest was particularly great for photographs because of such amazing backgrounds. Also loved the whale shark dive and the reefs were beautifully clear.
George McGavin is a MUST. Hugely informative, entertaining and engaging. Also his evening presentations were well pitched and unique in my experience. He’s much more than his TV personality.
